Just a brief note to say hey. The job shuffle has wiped me out. (It was 3 months of under-employment, and now 3 months of over-employment.) The greenhouse is cooking, seeds are in the ground, and I’m watching weeds grow a little bigger every day. Music is on my mind every day, but my hands are busy with everything else.
I suppose some people thrive on change. Not me. I mean, the upheaval generally turns into music, eventually—after things quiet down, and I have time to process it all. But I process very slowly, with a lot of space, a lot of time. I’ll have more music to share, eventually.
PSA: Supporting the Arts
Half a lifetime ago, I shared part of this journey with Jamie. We parted ways, but we’ve kept in touch off and on. I was so stoked when she agreed to create The End of May artwork, and I loved getting to revisit the creative process with her: talking themes, images, ideas. I’m not a visual artist, but I love being on the periphery of a process that’s so far outside my comfort zone, and so evidently inspired.
A number of years ago, her husband Stephen wrote a screenplay, then won an award for it, and now they’re buckling down to produce the film. I’m so pleased and proud to see this creative work moving forward. Please take a moment to check out:
It takes bravery to commit to a project of this size. I want to see it succeed!
Happy spring everybody. If you’re gonna plant seeds—literal, or otherwise—hop to it.
